My name is Rebecca Heijkoop, I’m an aspiring fashion photographer living in London and I’m also the owner of Becky-Photography.com where you can find my portfolio. My biggest dream is to become a full time fashion photographer and that’s the reason why I moved on my own to London at the age of 19.
I was born on the 18th of December 1990 in The Netherlands and at the age of 12 I moved with my parents and sisters to Portugal. I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do with my life but I had always loved photography and since I was 12 years old I designed websites, so the natural course of my life after 9th grade, would lead me to a art based education. But than my mom gave me the idea to become a vet. I love animals, I really do, but me and maths just don’t combine, so after getting flunked at math straight the first year and getting in trouble with physics in the next, I decided I would just do a high-school course that would finish it as quick as possible with a complete course. So I did a night school adult course. I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted and after finding a ad in the portuguese NStyle magazine to do a fashion photography course, I was hooked. I had always loved photographing people and also nature scenes but I had never thought about combining the 2, so after completing a intensive 3 month fashion photography course led by Mário Principe, I went to London on my own. I had started the idea back in December of 2009 but only after completing the course and setting up a basic portfolio, I went to London.
The thing I love most is photography and I am putting every effort into becoming better and learning more, I may only 19 years old but that gives me twice the reasons to work the double of other people starting out. I am someone who knows what she wants, works hard and learns quick. I am at the moment still looking for a job as an assistant or lead photographer, so if you are interested, contact me.
